On March 25, 2024, a thematic event on the topic "Management and maintenance activities of Ihor Sikorsky International Airport "Kyiv" (Zhulyany) was held at the Faculty of Law for students of the 4th year of the specialty 081 "Law".
At the invitation of Lyubov Netska, head of the Department of Economic, Air and Space Law, the speakers of the event were Oleg Petrovskyi, director of the IKAO Institute of NAU, and his deputy Maryna Petrushchenko.
The director of the ICAO Institute Oleg Petrovskyi, who in the pre-war period worked as the Deputy General Director of this airport, disclosed the issue of civil aviation management in general and the issue of international airport management, public-private partnership, and the legal basis of the airport KP MA "Kyiv" (Zhulyany).
He also outlined new directions in the management of the international airport and the challenges of the post-war period.
Maryna Petrushchenko, who in the pre-war period headed the passenger transport organization department of the company serving Kyiv (Zhulyani) airport - MASTER-AVIA LLC, introduced the students of higher education to the peculiarities of airport operations and their maintenance, the permit system, air safety requirements, airline certification and training of their employees, and also paid attention to contractual work related to the transportation of passengers, luggage, and cargo. In her report, the speaker highlighted the role and significance of ICAO's main acts for the organization and implementation of aviation activities.
The information received by the students raised a number of questions for the invited guests, the main ones of which were given comprehensive answers. Since it is impossible to outline all the legal aspects of the international airport's activities within the allotted time, the parties agreed on further meetings and fruitful cooperation to ensure the safety of air transportation in the post-war period.
