On March 6, 2024, Oksana Panova, professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law, and the criminal investigation officer of the Shevchenkiv Police Department of the State Police of Kyiv, senior police lieutenant Valentin Polevik, conducted a binary practical session for students of the second (master's) level of higher education in specialty 262 "Law enforcement activity" from the academic discipline "Actual problems of police activity".
During the discussion of the topic "Preventive work of the bodies of the National Police of Ukraine", the speakers noted that one of the powers of the police is prevention (prevention) of offenses, which consists in the purposeful activity of police units and services with the aim of identifying, eliminating and reducing the negative impact of factors that lead to the commission of crimes criminal and administrative offenses, formation of a positive environment for socialization and correction of the behavior of persons prone to committing offenses.
In turn, Valentyn Polevik spoke about the functional duties of criminal investigation officers and the specifics of the criminal situation in the Shevchenkiv district of Kyiv.
At the end of the meeting, the senior police lieutenant thanked the management of the Faculty of Law for their cooperation and trust, inviting young people to support projects related to the work of law enforcement agencies in general.
