Representatives of the Ibero-American Institute of Air and Space Law noted that for more than fifty years of its existence, the Institute has been performing a very important task - conceptualizing, studying, promoting, and teaching in the field of air and space law. Expanding cooperation with scientific institutions worldwide is one of the Institute's tasks since today it already closely cooperates with governments and national legislatures in preparing draft standards, and its working groups (air transport; aviation and the environment; and space law) conduct applied research involving the aviation and space community.
This meeting contributed to the expansion of international scientific cooperation of the National Aviation University in the field of air and space law for the development of domestic science and the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of jurisprudence and law enforcement.
For reference: The Ibero-American Institute of Air and Space Law was founded at the University of Salamanca on April 24, 1964. It is a private legal organization comprising over one hundred and fifty lawyers (professors of universities, technicians, and senior administrative officials, advisors to airlines, lawyers, diplomats, etc.) specializing in aviation and space law and belonging to all Latin American countries. The Institute participates in the most relevant international forums in the sector: it has been an observer and participant in sessions of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC) since 1974. It is also a consultative body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 1976, and since 2012, it has been a permanent observer of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).
