As part of national and patriotic events, in January 2024 at the Faculty of Law of NAU, the mentors of academic groups 2nd-year student (201B, 202B, 203B, 204B) Veronika Oleshchenko and Svitlana Golovko held an online event dedicated to honoring the memory of Cyborgs Donetsk airport.
Addressing the audience, Veronika Oleshchenko noted that the events that took place 10 years ago on the territory of the Donetsk airport entered the history of our country as a symbol of the indomitability and courage of the Ukrainian people, our patriots. The fortitude and self-sacrifice of the heroes deserve not only honor and gratitude, but should be in the memory of each and every one of us.
2nd year students together with their mentors watched the movie "Independence Day. Ihor Branovytskyi", dedicated to the machine gunner of the 90th separate amphibious assault battalion of the 81st amphibious assault brigade, defender of the Donetsk airport, Hero of Ukraine, knight of the Order "National Hero of Ukraine", awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree (posthumously). On January 21, 2015, after militants blew up the airport terminal, he stayed with his wounded comrades, and after being captured, he saved the lives of his comrades, declaring that he was the unit's machine gunner. After several hours of brutal torture, the militants shot a brave and courageous Ukrainian.
Concluding the meeting, Svitlana Golovko emphasized: "They survived, concrete did not!". This is how Ukraine talks about the steel defenders of the Donetsk airport. They are called "cyborgs" because for eight months under constant shelling, repelling attack after attack, they held this piece of Ukrainian land. Our giants of spirit have shown that Ukraine is capable of resisting russian aggression."
