On January 25, 2024, the Executive Board of the Faculty of Law of National Aviation University participated in the presentation of the outcomes of the pilot projects on minimizing corruption risks in three law schools in Ukraine.
The project is organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Agency on Corruption Prevention with the support of the USAID Program "Justice for All". Its implementers are the Law Faculty of Zaporizhzhia National University, the Law Faculty of Kharkiv National University, the Law Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, the Law Faculty of Uzhhorod National University, and the Faculty of Law of Uzhhorod National University.
The event was moderated by Artem Shaipov, USAID Legal Advisor of the Program "Justice for All", and Lyudmyla Slyva, Deputy Head of the Integrity Office of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.
In addition to representatives of Ukrainian law schools, the discussion was attended by representatives of state authorities and public organizations, students of higher education institutions interested in minimizing corruption risks and fostering a culture of zero tolerance to corruption in higher education. These included Yaroslav Lyubchenko, Acting Head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption; Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine; Yulia Hryshyna, co-chair of the Working Group on Reforming Legal Education of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy; Mark Ellingstad, Director of the Office of Democracy and Governance, USAID Mission to Ukraine; and David Vaughn, USAID Program Manager of the Program "Justice for All".
During the presentation, the participants learned about the results and experience of implementing this pilot project by three law schools in Ukraine, the basic principles of creating a culture of zero tolerance to corruption, discussed the recommendations prepared by experts, and received feedback from the partners: Vitalii Seriogin, Dean of the Law Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University; Tetiana Kolomoets, Dean of the Law Faculty of Zaporizhzhia National University; and Yaroslav Lazura, Dean of the Law Faculty of Uzhhorod National University.
To summarize the results of the event, the participants expressed their readiness to implement the recommendations provided in the law schools of Ukraine.
