On September 26, 2023, students from groups PR-101B and PR-103B of the Law Faculty, accompanied by their mentors Lyudmila Shapenko and Irina Slobodska, paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the mass killings in Babi Yar by organizing an excursion to the National Historical and Memorial Reserve 'Babi Yar'.
The students visited the sites of mass Nazi shootings of peaceful Jewish population in Kyiv during the German-Soviet war, including the "Menorah" monument, the symbolic memorial synagogue "Place for Reflection," the "Crystal Wall of Grief," the monument to the children's shot in Babi Yar, the memorial to the victims of Nazism, and other exhibitions, which have become not only symbols of the Holocaust but also embodiment of the tragic fate of innocent people.
During the event, each attendee had the opportunity to be involved in the discussion about the history of the Nazi operation in Babi Yar on September 29-30, 1941, which aimed at the destruction of the socio-cultural and ethno-religious Jewish community. They also had the chance to express their perspectives on this globally the renowned tragedy that profoundly affected hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian families.
