On September 21, 2023, the head of the Department of Theory and History of the State and Law of the Faculty of Law, Olena Makeeva, held an interactive practical session on the topic "Modern approaches to legal understanding" for students of the 1st year of the Bachelor's degree as part of the study of the academic discipline "Theory of the State and Law".
Problems of modern legal understanding, their origins and development were discussed with the students.
By preparing meaningful presentations and presenting them, first-year students demonstrate their public speaking and creativity skills. Each presentation was accompanied by a short oral presentation, during which the students explained the main ideas presented on the slides. Students analyzed educational information, learned to formulate their own opinion, express it correctly, prove their position, argue and discuss.
During the class, students also modeled various social and legal situations, learned to listen to their opponent and respect an alternative opinion. In addition, they acquired leadership skills and the ability to work in a team, learned to build constructive relationships in a group, avoid conflicts, resolve them, seek compromises, strive for dialogue and consensus.
As a result of the class, students gained valuable experience in public speaking, improved their communication skills, and gained self-confidence. They also showed their creativity and ability to work independently.
Such interactive classes are focused on broad interaction of students not only with the teacher, but also with each other, on the dominance of student activity, and the teacher's role is to organize the group's work process to achieve the goal of the class. Communicating with each other, students acquire new knowledge, develop soft skills, personal qualities, acquire general and professional competences with the aim of implementing them in professional legal activities.
