On March 23, 2023, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of the State and Law of the Faculty of Law, Iryna Varava, held an interactive class with students of the 11th grade of the Stavyshchen educational complex "Institution of general secondary education of I-III degrees - Law Lyceum" No. 2 named after O.S. Palanskyi Stavyshchensk settlement council of Bilotserkiv district of Kyiv region on the topic "Legal mechanisms for the protection of the rights of minors".
Characterizing modern social life, Iryna Varava pointed out the main factors that give rise to the emergence of legal relations that go beyond the legal system of one state, but require legal regulation. Among such factors are: deep integration processes that cover various spheres, including the legal systems of states; strengthening of migration processes; globalization etc…"The borders of the internal jurisdiction of states are no longer unchanged today, states allow international legal regulation of issues that were traditionally considered to be related only to intra-state relations. In addition, under modern conditions, when both official and "civil" marriages between citizens of different states have become commonplace, the interests of children born in such marriages must also be protected at the international level", the lecturer said in her speech.
The lecturer noted that one of the main components of Ukraine's state policy in the field of childhood protection is the improvement of the legal framework, including the implementation of international law. The result of this activity is that today Ukraine is a participant in a number of international documents in the field of ensuring children's rights. Evidence of our state's intention to ensure the protection of children's rights is, among other things, the constant work of the interested authorities to prepare proposals for Ukraine's accession to international treaties in the field of family law.
For today, international treaties to which Ukraine is a party allow to resolve issues related to the exercise of parental rights and the fulfillment of obligations of both a material and non-material nature, regardless of the citizenship and place of residence of parents and children.
