On October 27, 2021, the Deputy Head of the First Department of Procedural Management of the Second Department of Organization and Procedural Management in Criminal Proceedings of the State Bureau of Investigation of the Department of Organization and Procedural Management of Pre-Trial Investigation of the State Bureau of Investigation and Supervision of Its Operational Units of the State Bureau of Investigation of the Office of the Prosecutor General - Yuriy Stankevych.
Yuriy Stankevych gave a demonstration lecture to students of the Faculty of Law on the topic "Composition of a criminal offense."
The relevance of this topic is not in doubt, because the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine to Simplify Pre-trial Investigation of Certain Categories of Criminal Offenses" dated 22.11.2018 № 2617-VIII introduced significant changes in criminal law. The lecturer stressed the novelties that have appeared in the criminal law of Ukraine in connection with the division of criminal offenses into criminal offenses and crimes.
Yuriy Stankevych stressed to the students the importance of correctly determining the composition of a criminal offense in practice, gave interesting examples from their own practice. In legislative practice, criminalization (decriminalization) of socially dangerous acts is carried out with the help of a criminal offense. Therefore, the composition of a criminal offense, as well as the doctrine of it, forms the tool by which the legislator and carries out criminal policy in the field of criminalization of acts, said, summing up the material read, the expert.
In addition, the lecturer gave new interesting examples from the draft Criminal Code of Ukraine, which is currently being discussed by the entire legal community. It was very useful for the students to find out what new articles, legal structures, punishments await us in connection with the adoption of the new criminal legislation.
