On May 13, 2020, Theory and History of State and Law Department of the Faculty of Law organized and held a scientific-methodical online seminar “Issues and prospects of legal education development in Ukraine ” on the Google Hangouts Meet platform.
Iryna Sopilko, Dean of the Faculty of Law of NAU, Doctor of Law, Professor addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech. Ivan Borodin, Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of NAU, Doctor of Law, Professor summarized the experience of implementing a credit-module system of education in the training of future lawyers at the Faculty of Law.
The event was attended by representatives of domestic higher education institutions. Tetiana Arifkhodjaeva, Associate Professor of Constitutional Law, Theory and History of State and Law Department of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor highlighted the problems of understanding deontology in modern education. Tetiana Podkovenko, Associate Professor of Theory and History of State and Law Department of the Faculty of Law at Ternopil National Economic University, Ph.D. considered the features of legal education in modern conditions. Mykhailo Prokhorenko, Head of the Department of Legal Support of National University of Defense of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky, Ph.D. in Law, Colonel of Justice, focused on topical issues of forming the content of the educational-professional program of the officer Forces of Ukraine for the specialization “Organization of law enforcement activities in the Armed Forces of Ukraine”. Denys Tykhomyrov, a doctoral student at the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Ph.D. in Law, described the basic principles of strategic planning in Ukraine. Victoria Chorna, Professor of Administrative Law and Process Department of the State Higher Educational Institution “Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman”, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, touched upon topical issues of legal education development in the context of the draft Concept of Legal Education Development. Dmytro Kuras, Associate Professor of History of State and Law Department of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor, focused on the main aspects of the correlation between the development of legal education and the evolution of legal consciousness of society.
The scientific-pedagogical staff of Theory and History of State and Law Department of the Faculty of Law of NAU joined the discussion of the seminar. Svitlana Holovko, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor, focused on the prospects of introducing dual education as one of the forms of higher legal education. The speech of Olena Makeieva, Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor, was devoted to topical issues of forming a professional worldview of a lawyer in higher education. Nataliya Piyhun, Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor, dedicated her speech to theoretical and practical aspects of legal education. Victoriya Cherevatyuk, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor, raised the issue of legal science development. Senior Lecturer Iryna Varava revealed the institutional mechanisms for the protection of human rights in the formation of the informational society. Senior Lecturer Oksana Myronets, Ph.D. in Law, outlined the prospects for the development of legal education in the fight against COVID-19. Senior Lecturer Lyudmyla Shapenko focused on the problems of the innovative development of law schools. Junior Lecturer Maria Bukher analyzed the state of development of higher legal education in Ukraine at the present stage.
During the summing up of the event, the prospects of development of the system of professional training of lawyers in the conditions of transformation of the domestic educational branch have been discussed and practical mechanisms of its improvement have been outlined in order to increase the efficiency of general and special competencies of future lawyers.
