On the 15th of June in 2021, to honor the 311th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk, the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law among first-year students of the Law Faculty of NAU held a competition on the theme “The Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk is an important political act for the future of Ukrainian statehood”.
In their presentations, students highlighted the importance of the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk, the activities and life of a prominent hetman and statesman of Ukraine. The works of the first-year students turned out to be informative, interesting and creative. Future lawyers stressed that the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk for the first time laid down the ideas of separation of powers into legislative, executive, and judicial, outlined the powers of the hetman, and formed the principles for building the law-based state.
The contestants concluded that the Constitution of Ukraine differs from the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk, but they have one thing in common because both documents testify to the need of society to live by the law, as respect for human rights and freedoms is the basis for civil society.
The competent jury consisting of acting Head of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law Olha Husar and research-teaching staff of the Department Iryna Tolkachova, Iryna Ustynova, Yulia Iurynets, Yuriy Kunev, and Myroslava Olkhovik evaluated the presentations for originality, style of presentation and their design.
According to the results of the competition, the winners were determined: the 1st place was awarded to Daria Matviyeva (group PR-103B), the 2nd place - Olena Savchenko (group PR-101B) and Albina Sharko (group PR-104B), the 3rd place - Anna Martyniuk (group PR-103B). 102B) and Anastasiya Tyubay (group PR-105B).
