On December 16, 2020, the Faculty of Law held a methodological seminar for mentors and commanders of academic groups on the topic: "Features of training applicants of higher education in the context of a pandemic and post-pandemic conditions".
Dean of the faculty Irina Sopilko addressed the audience with an opening speech, who congratulated the participants and wished them a fruitful discussion when considering this rather relevant topic of our time. Associate professor of the Department of administrative, financial and Information Law of the Faculty of international trade and law of the Kyiv National University of trade and economics Anna Gurzhiy also joined the methodological seminar. Senior Mentor of the Faculty of Law, associate professor of the Department of theory and history of state and law Elena Makeeva focused on the current challenges and threats faced by higher education institutions in the context of the pandemic.
During the event, mentors of the Department of constitutional and administrative law presented reports in which they highlighted modern methods and means of distance learning during quarantine, the features of teaching disciplines of the financial and legal cycle on distance and mixed forms, the specifics of English-language training of law students in pandemic and post-pandemic conditions.
During the discussion of the seminar, mentors of the Faculty of Law shared their own experience in conducting classes online, in particular, using effective methods of teaching legal disciplines in the context of a pandemic, and organizing educational work of mentors in distance learning. Students who also took an active part in the discussion expressed their view on learning in quarantine.
Summing up, the participants noted that at the Faculty of Law, all classes are conducted in accordance with the established requirements and using modern methods of distance learning. Moreover, as a result of the discussion between representatives of students and research and teaching staff, promising areas for improving the forms and methods of training applicants for higher education were identified, which will contribute to better training of qualified specialists in the field of law.
