On November 12, 2019 Revenue Service Lawyer Mark Howard and Tax Law Specialist Jesse Smith (USA) conducted a hands-on training for Law School students. American lawyers introduced the students to the jury selection process in accordance with US law, the main reasons for citizens' refusal to participate in the jury, and the specific nature of their objections to litigation by the parties. Mark Howard and Jesse Smith shared their own experience of being a jury member and focused on jury responsibility. Students learned about the features of the classical model of the jury, in particular, to distinguish between the task of the jury, which must decide whether the accused is guilty and the tasks of judges, who determine the qualification of the crime and assign a penalty. In order to consolidate the professional skills of future lawyers, American experts simulated a court session, where students by individually performing the functions of members of the jury and judges, learned to make decisions formed tasks. Practical training with foreign experts has become an important component that connects theoretical training and academic practice in the disciplines that are studied during training at the University. |
