On April 9, 2019, at the Faculty of Law a round table was held on "Legal nihilism and ways to overcome it".
The event was attended by scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, students-participants of the scientific circle "The Lawyer" under the direction of associate professor of the department Natalia Pilgun.
During the event, attention was paid to the fact that one of the main problems of modern society is legal nihilism, as one of the forms of deformation of the consciousness of society. However discussed issues such as the role and importance in the formation of legal consciousness of the individual; manifestations of deformation of the legal consciousness and the reasons for its occurrence; historical and philosophical concept of nihilism; legal culture of society and the legal system of values; concept, essence and content of legal nihilism; legal nihilism of Ukrainian society: causes of appearance and forms of manifestation at the present stage of development of society; features of the emergence of legal nihilism in society on the example of other countries; the social value of the law and its influence on the person's education; manifestations of legal nihilism in student youth in Ukraine; ways to overcome legal nihilism among young people in Ukraine and in the world.
However, during the round table discussed the issue of comparing such a social phenomenon as legal nihilism in relation to the state of law in society.
Participants of the round table summarized the existing social problems in Ukrainian society and the level of moral and ethical qualities of students. It was emphasized that the special danger of modern legal nihilism in Ukraine is that it deforms the rights of the person and this is especially negative for the formation of world outlook and legal culture of youth.
During the summing up, the following proposals were submitted to the participants of the event: to raise the level of legal culture, using additional thematic sources of educational nature; to deepen understanding of the social significance of law; studying the experience of advanced foreign countries in shaping legal culture and legal awareness, especially among student youth.
